Storytelling Crankie: Create Your Own Illustrated Moving Story Scroll

March 8 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

luag-4661

Join us for a hands-on, all-ages workshop where art and storytelling come to life! Participants will create their own illustrated moveable narrative scrolls, known as “crankies”. Used for centuries to share stories through a combination of imagery, movement, and performance, crankies are a captivating way to bring personal or collective tales to life.

Guided by teaching artist Rebecca Kelly, you’ll design a visual story on a long scroll of paper, which will be wound onto spools and revealed as you turn the crank—just like an old-fashioned storytelling machine! Whether inspired by history, folklore, or your own imagination, your crankie will transform your narrative into an interactive experience that will unfold before your very eyes.

No prior art experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Come explore the magic of storytelling through art and motion!

Space is limited to 20 participants. Register in advance here to save your spot.

If you require assistance filling out this form, prefer to share your registration information via email or phone, or have questions, concerns, or any accessibility needs, please email Elise at  ejs421@lehigh.edu or call 610-758-6882.
