Join us for a fantastic, audience participation-encouraged, evening with Pete Gustavson and Laurie Ann Hullinger at Dave’s Night Out! Music, stories, and conversation come together in Dave’s Night Out, a unique monthly series hosted by Dave Fry at Godfrey Daniels. This edition features the insightful songwriting of Pete Gustavson and Laurie Ann Hullinger, who will share their thoughts on “Why Write Songs?” Pete’s deeply emotive style blends old-time country, folk-rock, and alternative influences, while Laurie Ann’s American roots sound draws from classic country, rockabilly, and blues traditions. Expect an evening of songcraft, storytelling, and spontaneous dialogue in the intimate and welcoming atmosphere of Bethlehem’s premier Live Music Listening Room.

Pete Gustavson is a multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter residing in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. He writes songs about love and life and death and the ache of regret, calling upon influences ranging from ’40s torch songs to ’90s Alternative Rock, and pulling at the strings that tie Old-time Country to ’60s Folk-Rock. Since the late 1990s, he has performed as the frontman of South Bethlehem holdover The Unpronounceable.

One doesn’t typically think of Irvington, New Jersey as a source for roots songwriters. But when your Daddy raised you on a steady diet of Hank Williams records along with various swing and blues artists of the time, and your Mama played steel guitar, it gets in your blood fast. Miss Laurie Ann Hullinger started writing songs at an early age and has developed an extensive collection of tight, well-crafted songs that tell stories of love, come and gone. Much in the tradition of The Blasters and The Paladins, her musical style is “American Music”, combining elements of traditional country, rockabilly, and 50’s rhythm & blues.
