The SouthSide Cleanup

Spring is in the air, and that means it’s time for a Spring Cleaning!
The SouthSide Spring Cleanup is an annual event led by Lehigh University’s Office of Community & Regional Affairs in partnership with the Lehigh University Community Service Office and other local volunteer organizations like SouthSide Arts District. Volunteers are assigned to different sections of the neighborhood to maximize impact.
Join the Lehigh University, Community Action Development Bethlehem, SouthSide Arts District, and more as we embark on the biggest community cleanup of the year. Together, we will tackle trash across SouthSide Bethlehem’s 3rd & 4th Streets and on the South Bethlehem Greenway.

All are welcome to volunteer for this cleanup!
Meet at Farrington Square, located at Morton & S New St on Lehigh’s campus at 9:30 AM for a free breakfast and to receive your cleanup gear. The cleanup will begin at 10AM and run until 12PM.
- Please make sure everyone dresses for the weather (this event is rain or shine)
- Sneakers / closed toe shoes are required
- Sun protection is recommended: Sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, visors, etc.
SouthSide Arts District will be concentrating its volunteer efforts on the South Bethlehem Greenway. If you would like to volunteer with SouthSide Arts District for the Greenway Cleanup, please RSVP by emailing Katy at asst@southsideartsdistrict.com to let us know you are coming. We will email you with additional details. If you have any questions, feel free to include them in your email.

South Bethlehem is home to thousands of Lehigh students, faculty and staff who live off-campus and help build a cohesive community while improving the overall quality of life for city residents. At the annual South Side Clean-Up, many Lehigh and Bethlehem groups come together to clean the sidewalks and gutters of debris accumulated over winter. Working toward a common cause adds meaning to the day for Lehigh and neighbors who take pride in a clean, healthy environment.
