The Charter Arts Visual Arts Department presents its 2024 Black Excellence Exhibit, with an Opening Reception on February 2nd from 6-8 PM as part of the Southside Arts District’s First Friday celebration.  The reception is FREE and takes place in the school’s Corpora Gallery (Entrance to the gallery is on 3rd Street).

The Black Excellence Exhibit will feature privately owned ink drawings by Alvin Booth alongside work by Mr. Imagination. Alvin Booth, artist from Reading, Pennsylvania is inspired by Jazz and the art of improvisation. His rhythmic work captures the essence of heart, mind, and soul. Recipient of the Pennsylvania Governor’s Award for the Arts, Alvin Booth has exhibited in Lancaster, PA, California, and is featured in Virginia based galleries. Mr. Imagination was an outsider artist from Chicago, Illinois who worked in a variety of media including bottlecaps, repurposed material, and sandstone. Work by Mr. Imagination is featured in the Smithsonian Museum of American Art as well as other museums of art.
